About Camelford Association of Residents (C.A.R.)
C.A.R. was formed in the summer of 2005 by concerned
residents of Camelford. It was established in response to issues about
democracy raised by our
(then) Town Council's refusal to abide by the outcome of a local referendum held over
the introduction of ‘Pay & Display' parking fees in the town's (previously
free) Churchfield Car Park.
At the local election in 2007 a new
Council was elected. The majority of newly-elected Councillors stood
on a 'Free Parking for Camelford' ticket and shortly thereafter 'Pay &
Display' charges were abolished.
C.A.R. remains actively involved in projects in and for our
community.
In 2009 we were concentrating on the Charter 750 celebrations and the Christmas
Lights. - if you have ideas then either
